Hello fellas,
TF2 has had a grip on my life for the better half of around 4 years as of writing this. I had know TF2 for years due to watching a lot of SFM animations as a kid (mainly FNAF shit) and having Garry's Mod as my first game on Steam but I never actually knew much about the game, even though i apparently opened the game sometime in early 2015, around 30 mins before I had to go to school.
One day in 2022, I ended up getting the classic elmaxo Bing Soy video in my recommended and decided to watch it. After that I kept on getting more and more videos, mainly from elmaxo, Uncle Dane and LazyPurple, on my YouTube recommended and made me decide to start playing the game.
I mainly started playing the game because, at the time, I was addicted to playing League of Legends for 4 years straight and I could really tell that it was taking a toll on my mental state and effecting other around me physically and in my online social circle. I needed another game or series of games to try and get the League addiction out of me.
I remember my first 100-200 hours like it was yesterday. Due to the bot crisis happening at the time and not knowing how to even play the main game modes in the first place, I spent a LOT of my time on trade servers. Can't remember the name of the server I used to join but I remember always playing on trade_plaza. Even during that phase of trade servers,
After that phase, I've basically only really played TF2 through Uncletopia with the occasional MvM game and I've met loads of really cool people through there. I've also made a few TF2 friends outside of Uncletopia, even a couple of streamers and has honestly been a complete blast.
I know that a lot of people that may be reading this have probably met me through TF2 and I'd like the thank you all a ton. Especially people that met me a couple years back, you've have helped me get through a lot and I can't thank you all enough.
Not gonna say the game is "perfect", definitely has some jank that PISSES me off to an unbelievable degree, mainly bullets be blocked by teammates and teammates taking priority on melee attacks. The amount of times I've been fucked by these has my blood boiling LMAO.
The only issue I will say that the game has effected me negatively has been my inherent mass-buying of items. Every time I get paid, I tend to spend hundreds on TF2, rarely through cases but more through stuff like Marketplace.tf (Not Sponsored). However, I'm currently trying to work on my issue with this and am currently selling my entire backpack (except a few items due to sentimental value) to get some of my money back from what I've spent through Cashout.tf (Not Sponsored). I'm 100% aware that the money I'll get is not even close to the amount I've spent overall but it'll at least get rid of the items I don't need, planning on only buying some of the cheap stranges but if a strange version of a weapon is WAY too expensive then I'll just get a killstreak version.
At the current moment, I've been working on learning the ins and outs of creating a TF2 HUD and how all that stuff works, pretty fun unless you want to work with fonts and you're stupid and didn't realise there was a Visual Studio plugin that would of made the process 100x faster but instead decided to manually go through the HUD files with notepad++. Who would do such a thing? Hmmmm.
I also plan to look into the TF2 SDK to try and get back into my coding stuff because I haven't done it in years as well as possibly learning some SFM to create some posters/wallpapers for myself. Who knows, maybe I'll make an animation for some reason.
Apologies for this being a really long-winded blog but I really do love this game and the community and, as of the time of writing, I have no urges to stop playing the game anytime soon. If you read this the whole way through, I'm so sorry for you but I really do appreciate it. Everyone I've met through TF2 in any shape or form, I love you to death. I mean it, i swear LMAO.
